About me
Nicole Caputo is an award-winning New York designer, artist and writer. The mission of her creative studio is to create work and products that are beautiful and timeless, that inspire an emotional connection to the viewer, and that are risk-taking and experimental when appropriate. The studio was founded in 2001 in New York City, and is now surrounded by the wild beauty of the Catskills, operating from Phoenicia, NY. The studio is open to projects of any kind, large and small, books or otherwise.
Nicole is also VP, Creative Director of Catapult, Counterpoint Press and Soft Skull Press and is co-founder of She Designs Books, an organization that celebrates women in book design. Her former role was VP, Creative Director at Hachette Book Group.

In her community Nicole serves on the Board of Directors for the Catskill Center and is a Board Trustee of the beautiful Phoenicia Library. She is a member of the Shandaken Conservation Advisory Council, where she is the current lead on the Shandaken BearWise® task force. She formerly managed the Shandaken Residential Compost Program. Nicole is also a regular volunteer at Friends of the Feathered and Furry Wildlife Center, working alongside Dave Loverde to help care for sick, injured or orphaned wildlife. She is a conservationist, naturalist and avid gardener with a focus on native pollinator gardens, habitat creation and responsible land stewardship. She also takes great joy in growing food organically and sustainably which helps feed her family, friends and community.
