Everyone has an opinion about the state of publishing — this session brings both the numbers and the stories behind them. We'll dig into the data — sales trends by genre and category, what advances actually look like right now, how debut vs. backlist performance has shifted, the real growth (and limits) of audio and independent publishing — alongside the on-the-ground observations and anecdotes that don't always show up in a spreadsheet. Panelists will share what they're actually seeing in submissions, deals, and the market day to day, cutting through industry speculation and social media doom-scrolling for a fuller, more honest picture of what's really happening in publishing right now — and what it might mean for your own career.
